本书是蔡志忠先生“漫画中国传统文化经典：中英文对照版”系列之一，以图文形式解读《史记》《世说新语》中的经典故事，内容生动活泼，便于中外读者了解中国传统文化。
蔡志忠，生于1948年， 彰化人， 漫画家。15岁开始连环漫画创作，拍摄的动画电影《老夫子》荣获1981年 8届金马奖 佳卡通片奖。1983年开始创作四格漫画，目前已出版《大醉侠》《光头神探》《西游记》等四格漫画，以及《庄子说》《老子说》《列子说》等国学漫画共计100多部，并以多语种在30多个 和地区发行。1985年被评为“ 十大杰出青年”。1999年荣获荷兰 王子基金会奖，表彰他“通过漫画将中国传统哲学与文学作出了 的再创造”。2008年荣获第四届金龙奖华语动漫终身成就奖。
