《新里程大学英语听说教程》是在教育部颁布的《大学英语课程教学要求》(2020 版)总方针的指导下,基于北京师范大学“综合英语听说” 课程近五年的教学改革实践经验,广泛借鉴国内外优秀的英语听说教材编写而成的。自教材编写项目启动以来,编者们密切合作,充分发挥各自专长,听取专家意见,访谈学生,确定了教材的设计理念和编写方案。经过近两年的精诚合作和反复打磨,现在终于与读者们见面了。
教材特点
《新里程大学英语听说教程》的主要特点如下:
1. 以体裁为基础
本教材最大的特色是依据听力文本的体裁划分单元,并配以相关的主题内容。语篇知识有助于听力理解,这已经成为研究者和广大英语教师的共识,但怎样将语篇知识传授给学生,从而提高他们的听说能力呢?在本教材中,编者做出了以下三个方面的尝试:第一,以显性的方式将特定的文本结构呈现给学生,每个单元的“Language in Focus”专门介绍不同体裁的语篇特点,如故事、对话、讲座、新闻等;第二,提供各种图示引起学生对文本结构的注意,如第四单元专门设计了用流程图、层级概括图等来显示文本结构;第三,强化训练听力技巧,精心设计多种题型,如预测、概括、结构图等练习题都以语篇为主来强化篇章结构知识。
2. 以真实性为原则
本教材在选材上强调真实性,所有语料都是原汁原味的真实语篇,既有音频又有视频,既有单人陈述又有双人或者多人讨论等交互模式。语料选材除了对来源有严格的要求外,对内容的合适性也有明确的规定——与时俱进,传递正面的幸福观、健康观、环保观等。同时,听力任务的设计也最大限度地体现了综合性和互动性。教材中除了有传统的多项选择的听力理解题,还有近10 种不同的题型,如简答题、配对题、图表题、写作等。这些不仅有利于提高学生的英语综合能力,而且确保任务完成过程更接近于真实的语言运用。
3. 以实际交流为导向
跨文化交流中的文化因素是成功进行日常交流的关键。有时,学习者说的话虽然语法正确,但却“得罪”了人,这在很大程度上是由于不了解对方的文化特点造成的。本教材的口语部分全部由具有多年外语教学经验和国际交流经历的外籍教师编写,并专门设计了“Conversational Tips”模块,汇集日常交流中的一些常见问题,以问题为导向,针对性强,介绍有用的具体会话策略,既注重流利度和准确性,又强调得体性,帮助学生避开跨文化交流的“暗堡”,培养跨文化意识,从而实现内容充实、表达得体的有效沟通。
教材构成
本教材按不同的体裁和主题,共分9 个单元,可在一学期内使用,每个单元包括以下8个板块。
1. Dictation 听写预热
以听写的形式激活本单元的主题词汇,提高学生的词汇识别力,一些重点词汇会反复出现。
2. Listen for Fun 趣味英语
以幽默的英语小故事或者短对话活跃课堂气氛,增加学习的愉悦感。
3. Language in Focus 语言聚焦
介绍各种文本体裁的语言特色和结构,如对话、故事、讲座、新闻等,辅以多样化的听力练习促进学习。
4. Skills in Focus 技巧聚焦
介绍各种听力技巧,如概括大意、区分事实和观点、做笔记等,并提供多样化的听力练习。
5. TED Speech TED 演讲
打通视频通道,提供与主题相关的TED 精彩演讲,并设计相关练习,进一步培养听说能力。
6. Listening in Tests 实战测试
听力材料选自各大官方标准化考试,如雅思、大学英语四六级考试等,让学生学有所用,提高应试能力。
7. Conversational Tips 口语点津
介绍日常交流中的重要交际功能,基于情境,易于学习和操练,帮助学生学习地道的语言,根据所给的提示完成情境对话或讨论,提高语用能力。
8. Supplementary Listening 听力拓展
在单元内容的基础上,提供拓展练习,供学生课后使用,加大输入。
说教程
教材使用建议
本教材共9 个单元,每单元4 学时,一周2 学时,每两周可完成1 个单元。
在单元教学方面,编者建议学生在课前完成“Dictation 听写预热”,提前熟悉主题词汇并训练听力基本功,促进单词识别的自动化。教师在课堂上可以从“Listen for Fun 趣味英语”开始,活跃课堂气氛,使学生在听力中享受乐趣,提高成就感;之后重点完成“Language in Focus 语言聚焦”和“Skills in Focus 技巧聚焦”板块,教授听力文本体裁、文体特色和听力技巧,并指导学生完成相关练习;“Listening in Tests 实战测试”和“TEDSpeech TED 演讲”可在第3、4 课时中完成,加大输入并巩固之前的听力技巧,并辅以“Conversational Tips 口语点津”环节的课堂口语活动,小组互动,听说结合“Supplementary Listening 听力拓展”可以放在课外,供学生自主学习。
本教材紧随改革的步伐,探索听说教学新途径,具有一定的创新性。编者用心良苦,希望能帮助学生提高听力和日常交流的口语能力,期待广大师生能从本教材中有所收获。鉴于编者水平有限,教材中难免出现错误与不当之处,恳请各位读者在使用过程中提出宝贵意见。
