《搏流英语》的宗旨是使学生最终学会使用语言，而不是仅仅停留在静止地学会几个词语和句型的要求上。它所采用的方法是从(学生尝试)语言开始，过渡到教师演示、学生再次尝试、教师反馈指导、学生再回到“使用语言”的活动中。学生在反复尝试的基础上理解语言知识，锻炼言语技能，纠正语言错误，最终发展言语能力。本教材在这方面的设计别具匠心，可以说是近些年来的一本佳作。
