　　Human value orientations are universal.They are the common questions human beingsmust face， deal with and resolve in order to survival and flourish.Human beings havebeen facing and dealing these questions for their survival and prosperity for thousands ofyears.The value orientations are still the concerns of us human beings in the 21st centurywe must truly understand， confront， resolve these value orientations in order to surviveand flourish in the 21st century.However， people of different cultures approach valueorientation in different ways due to the differences in time and space.
　　The value orientations we are facing and must seek solutions to include： Are humanpersons innately good or innately evil？ Is human self a relational， communal， andcollectivistic entity or an isolated， atomistic， unique individual entity？ Is human self thecenter of a series of differentiated relationship or the center of the whole universe withself as the measure of all others？ Is the idea of society as a community of trust or merelya system of free play of polarities and binary opposites？ Is human person in harmonywith nature or a controller， a conqueror， and dominator of nature？ What is necessary andimportant， responsibility or rights， interests， dignity of the individual and， correspondingly，law？ And above all， are all the different and opposite forces complementary in nature sothat they should be integrated？
